Focus T25 Review

Focus T25 Review

I just started the Focus T25 program this week and wanted to journal my experience since many of you have asked for input to various work out programs. This Focus T25 Review will be updated daily as I move through the program! Keep checking Mrs.Fitness for progress reports and Focus T25 reviews!

About Focus T25: FOCUS T25 is a 10-week program split into 2 cycles—ALPHA and BETA—which each last 5 weeks. The result is FOCUS T25—and the name implies the intent: If you focus your intensity for 25 minutes, and you do it 5 days a week, you WILL get results. (from the T25 website)

Day One – Cardio

Be prepared. From the moment I clicked “play” Shaun T. had me working. There was no “warm up” provided, so folks who like spending time warming up (admittedly not me) will need to do this before starting the workout. As promised, the 25 minute workout was just that – a full workout for 25 minutes. No “take a sip of water” or “relax for 30 seconds and rest” instructions were uttered (other than in my head).  There was a short warm down video after the completion of the 25 minutes. All in all you’ll spend about 30 minutes each day vs the 25 minute advertised due to adding a few minutes before and after the video to warm up/cool down. Not a biggie, but something to keep in mind if you’re squeezing this in between life and, well life. I also liked that the only equipment you need for Focus 25 is provided in the kit – a resistance band. It already takes effort to put on my workout shoes, so getting 5 different pieces of workout equipment beforehand gets to be a bit much.

The Cardio workout is a mix of jumping, running in place and dancing style moves which reminds me that I really wanted to be Britney Spears back-up dancer back in the day. Good times. Oh, did I mention there was jumping. A LOT of jumping so make sure you’re wearing the proper shoes.

All in all, I was pleased with Day One. I’ve been doing the P90X videos (60 minute videos) for the last 3 months, so 25 minutes doesn’t seem very long. Only time will tell if it’s as effective for me. I’ll keep you posted here on Mrs.Fitness!!

Day Two – Speed 1.o

Day two seemed to be pretty much similar to Day 1. A lot of jumping work. This work out moves FAST, so I’m happy to have the modifier! A did enjoy the punching portion as it felt a bit more like dancing than work. As with Day 1, I don’t feel a ton of attention to my upper body so I hope that changes in the next few videos.

Day Three – Full Body Circuit

LOVE LOVE LOVE this video! This is what I’ve been waiting for – A full body workout that I can feel in my core. My obliques are sore today, which just may be a first. If you’re not one who enjoys ground work you’ll need to rely on the modifier quite a bit. This video delivers exactly what it promised – a full body workout. I had a blast and really felt as though 25 minutes provided me with a full work out. I didn’t feel the need to go out and “take a lap.” I’ll be looking forward to attacking this video again next week!

What is the 21 Day Fix Program?

If you’re wondering what the 21 Day Fix Program is you’ve come to the right place. I just finished the 21 Day Fix and am down 12 pounds and 12.5″. 21 Day Fix Extreme is Coming!

21 Day Fix Extreme, from celebrity trainer Autumn Calabrese, is coming February 2015! I am currently doing the 21 Day Fix Challenge (details here) and love the results so am planning on doing the 21 Day Fix Extreme in February.

21 Day Fix Extreme will help you get in shape in just 21 days with simple portion control, clean eating and extreme workouts. Not sure you’re up to the “extreme workouts?” Have no fear…they provide modified moves and encourage breaks to ensure you aren’t over doing it or pushing yourself outside your comfort zone.
